With the intent of delivering digital content anywhere, anytime, and on any product, the company?s line of USB 2.0 devices expands with 3-, 4-, and 7-port hub controllers, a 12-in-1 flash card reader device, plus a second-generation PHY. In a 48-pin QFN package, the USB2503 hub controller provides three downstream ports with three transaction translators while the USB2504 offers four downstream ports and four translators in 64-pin TQFP. The seven-port USB2507 (see photo) comes in an 80-pin QFN, and all three controllers operate with 3.3V I/O with a 5V input tolerance. The USB2228 12-in-1 flash card reader supports SmartMedia, Memory Stick PRO, Memory Stick, High Speed Memory Stick, Secure Digital, MultiMediaCard, NAND flash, compact flash I and II, and CF form-factor ATA hard drives. In a 56-pin QFN, the USB3250 PHY supports 480 Mb/s and 12 Mb/s data rates with a power consumption of 72 mA. Depending on the device, prices range from $2 to $7 each/10,000. SMSC, Hauppauge, NY.
