Taking a bow as the only video filter and driver to bundle high definition (HD), progressive scan (PS), and standard definition (SD) filters in one chip, the FMS6407 employs a triple sixth-order filter with selectable 30-, 15-, or 8-MHz cutoff frequencies. Users can bypass the filters, allowing the output amplifiers to accommodate a higher bandwidth up to 80 MHz. To handle multiple video formats, the device includes 2:1 multiplexers that automatically adjust sync-tip clamp voltages to the appropriate levels, depending on the format selected. Other features include three outputs driven by amplifiers with selectable gains of 0 dB or 6 dB, SD/PS/HD stop-band attenuations of 56, 48, and 40 dB, respectively, a 0.26% differential gain, and a differential phase of 0.11°. Price is $1.52 each/1,000. FAIRCHILD SEMICONDUCTOR, San Jose, CA. (408) 822-2314.
