With the ability to process 336 channels of either PCM or ADPCM on a single chip, the next generation Entropia Voice over Packet (VoP) chip supports VoIP and VoATM adaptation layer types 1 and 2. The device allows selection of AAL1, AAL2, or IP network protocols on a per channel basis. This highly integrated chip combines hardware, firmware and software with an on-chip DSP and includes compression, echo cancellation, tone detection and generation, and signaling support. The network processor, which is also integrated on the chip, includes AAL1, AAL2, and RTP/UDP/IP processing. CENTILLIUM COMMUNICATIONS, INC., Fremont, CA. (510) 771-3647.
