The result of exhaustive research involving non-conforming, mesh-coupling techniques and edge-based vector elements plus nodal-based scalar elements, Maxwell 3D v10 3D/2D electromagnetic simulation applications can now simulate linear translational motion and spinning rotational motion. This reportedly allows users to accurately predict the performance of industrial applications, such as motors and actuators where motion-induced physics is essential to device behavior. Additional enhancements include the ability to freeze permeability and to determine the demagnetization operating point of permanent magnets, adaptive time steps in 2D, and the ability to calculate core-loss coefficient from a loss curve. Prices for Maxwell 3D and 2D start at $34,900 and $14,900, respectively. ANSOFT CORP., Pittsburgh, PA. (412) 261-3200.
