The Series 9000 brush-commutated DC motors promise quiet and smooth operation over time for equipment used in data storage, medical/biotech, semiconductor processing, and automation applications. Sporting a modular design, the motors employ two-pole stators with seven-slot skewed armatures to minimize magnetic cogging, or reluctance torque. Commutators are diamond turned after armature assembly to ensure optimum concentricity and long brush life and windings are impregnated with resin to boost reliability in incremental motion applications. Other standard features include ceramic magnets, silicon steel laminations, copper graphite brushes, and heavy-gauge steel housings. The motors are available in six lengths from 1.82" to 3.35" and achieve a maximum continuous torque of 6.9 oz.-in. at speeds up to 6,070 rpm depending on model. Speed, voltage, current, and torque characteristics can be varied to meet application demands. Custom options include planetary or spur gearboxes, optical encoders, alternate brush materials, brakes, cables, connectors, modified shafts, and RFI suppression.
