A new family of intelligent power modules called the S-Dash IPM family is designed to be a drop-in replacement for the company's original S Series. Targeted at high-performance motor drives, servo drives and compact inverters between 5 and 40 HP, the new series offers improvements in cost and performance by incorporating a new 1-micron design rule planar IGBT chip and new soft diode. This combination provides low on-state loss (Vce (sat) = 1.7V) and improved electromagnetic compatibility. Available in ratings from 50A to 300A at 600V and 50A to 150A at 1200V, two package styles cover the complete range of 10 variations. The new packaging incorporates an aluminum nitride substrate for superior thermal characteristics and techniques from the company's low-inductance U-Series IGBT family to minimize the internal inductance. Pricing for sample quantities of 10 is $111 to $493, based on the particular rating selected. POWEREX INC., Youngwood, PA. (800) 451-1415.
