The Smart Digit and Smart Bug linear actuators integrate a variety of components, making them self-contained systems. These include Silvermax servomotors from Quick Silver, an optical encoder, digital servo amplifier, indexer, a local power supply, serial communications interface, and optional absolute positioning. The smart actuators provide repeatability to 1 µm and a resolution to 0.5 µm. They are available in stroke lengths of 51, 102 and 203 mm and can be fit with precision ball and Acme drive screws. The Smart Digit series in-line actuators are directly coupled to the drive screw and move at speeds up to 25"/s and provides up to 120 lb. of force. The Smart Bug series employs a non-slip timing belt with ratios from 1:1 to 4:1 and moves at speeds up to 40"/s and delivers up to 500 lb. of force. Several mounting options are available. And the actuator shafts are completely sealed. ULTRA MOTION, Mattituck, NY. (631) 298-9179.
