Motion Controller Family Embraces Universal Serial Bus

Spanning 1- through 8-axis formats that enables control of both step and servo motors on any combination of axes, the DMC-2000 Series of motion controllers is now available for the Universal Serial Bus (USB). Other communications options include RS-232, RS-422 and RS-485 with data rates of up to 115K baud. In addition, non-volatile memory for applications programs, variables and arrays permit operation without a host computer, while multi-tasking features allow simultaneous execution of up to eight application programs.A variety of software is available for quick set-up, automatic servo tuning and interfacing with ActiveX tools. Software is also available for DOS and Windows 3.1, 98 and NT, as is a library of function calls for C/C++ programmers. Other high performance features of the controllers include sinusoidal commutation for brushless motors, two encoder inputs for each axis, 96 configurable I/O, and forward and reverse limits and home inputs for each axis.
