ON Semi To Acquire Sanyo Semiconductor

ON Semiconductor will acquire Sanyo Electric subsidiary Sanyo Semiconductor and other assets related to Sanyo Electric’s semiconductor business

Phoenix, Ariz., and Tokyo, Japan: ON Semiconductor will acquire Sanyo Electric subsidiary Sanyo Semiconductor and other assets related to Sanyo Electric’s semiconductor business in a cash and stock transaction with a purchase price of approximately $366 million (¥33.0 billion).

Sanyo Semiconductor’s latest annual revenue performance was approximately $1.2 billion. The annualized revenue of the combined entity would be approximately $3.5 billion. The companies expect to complete the acquisition before the end of 2010.

ON Semiconductor expects this purchase to expand its product portfolio, adding new capabilities ranging from microcontrollers and ASICs to integrated power modules and motor control devices for the consumer, automotive, and industrial end-markets.
