Called a Shape Memory Alloy (SMA) actuator, the DM-01 can replace conventional motors and actuators in applications such as solenoid and relays, latch-release mechanisms, door and cabinet locking/unlocking, air duct/vane positioning and others. It provides a large stroke in a small package. The actuator is non-magnetic, operates completely silently, weighs less than 10% of a comparable motor or solenoid and activates with low shock. Force output is over 5 pounds constant with stroke, it can be activated with either ac or dc voltage and offers long life. Price is $49.50 each/25.
