Groomed for aerospace hydraulic pumps and motors, the company's rotating torque transducers rely on non-contact, rotary transformers for sending excitation voltages to, and receiving measurement signals from, the strain gage sensor element. The transformers' design eliminates the need for replacing worn brushes. The transducers employ a flange and splined shaft design that conforms to AND 10262 and 20002, making them suitable for use in torque studies on cantilevered aerospace hydraulic motors and pumps. Other applications include dynamometers for combustion engines, drive shafts, transmissions, fans, and electric motors. In addition to the torque output signal, an optional pickup provides an output proportional to speed and an optional K-type thermocouple monitors internal bearing temperature. Other features include high torsional stiffness and low rotating inertia. Custom units are available for alternative measurement ranges and speeds. PCB PIEZOTRONICS INC., Depew, NY. (888) 684-0004.
