Now available in an improved version, the NovalithIC targets engineers developing economical electronic circuits. The 1 cm x 1 cm package integrates three chips in one: two power chips and one logic circuit to control and monitor the power stage. The device serves a broad range of applications from smaller motors, such as fuel pumps and windshield wiper drives in automobiles, to power-hungry equipment, i.e., drills, air-conditioning systems and engine cooling fans. Power output varies continuously depending on application needs, a feature that reportedly slashes energy consumption by as much as 80%. INFINEON TECHNOLOGIES, Milpitas, CA. (866) 951-9519.
