Monta Vista's Carrier Grade Linux version 3.1 adds a host of additions and enhancements, including support for AdvancedTCA's Intelligent Platform Management Interface (IPMI). Monta Vista supports the OpenIPMI interface as well. The 2.4.20-based kernel incorporates a number of features found in the latest 2.6 kernel-like Persistent Device Naming and SysFS flash file system. It also uses the new POSIX Threads Library and SA (service availability) Forum Clustering APIs. In addition, IBM's 440 and 750 PowerPCs are now supported. Linux features like XFS, a high-performance journaling file system, is available too. Pricing starts at $5000.
