The W8002 controller chip crafted by Wacom supports the company's inductive pen-sensing technology. It can detect a pen that's hovering over a pad before it actually touches the pad, opening up new options for handheld- and tablet-based software. The technology has been used extensively on graphics tablet products from Wacom. However, this chip is aimed at more compact and portable applications. The W8002 is priced under $20.
