The old or the new, it doesn't matter with the VT6421 controller. Its pair of 150-Mbit/s Serial ATA (SATA) manages new SATA drives, and its parallel ATA-133 interfaces support a pair of integrated-development-environment (IDE) drives. The drives can be accessed as single devices or in a RAID 0, RAID 1, or JBOD array. The company's DriveThru technology enables the hot-swap of SATA drives only. The system interface supports a range of interfaces, including PC Card and USB devices.
