Representing the first release of what is projected as a major series of production-ready reference platforms for the information appliance market, the WebPAD reference platform and software developer's toolkit (SDK) is said to offer everything OEMs need to build wireless Internet personal access devices (PADs).The reference platform is based on the firm's highly integrated Geode GXm processor, an x86-based chip that integrates sound, graphics, memory control and PCI interface. The platform is complemented by a complete software toolkit that includes the QNX real-time OS, embedded windowing system, Internet technology suite, development tools, demo applications with source code, and evaluation licenses. In addition, QNX's embedded GUI and Internet technology are customizable,enabling products to take on a unique look and feel without the need for recoding.
