Announced as the wireless industry's first commercial, 100% Java-based mobile application server, the M-1 Server application promises to give Java developers, regardless of wireless expertise, the ability to rapidly develop, deploy and update mobile applications. Built for Java 2 Enterprise Edition (J2EE), the server provides all the components necessary to develop and deploy mobile applications in as little as four weeks, according to the company. Via a patent-pending architecture, adaptation to wireless technology advances is accomplished through simple upgrades and application programming interfaces (APIs).
Other features include: support for all mobile devices; automatic rendering of the output to match screen size, browser type, presentation/mark-up language, and memory size; built-in server-side intelligence and data-loss protection; support for multiple messaging channels; and intelligent back-end-data access and connection pooling. The M-1 Server is available now and a fully functional evaluation copy can be downloaded from the company’s web site.
