The Fire Wire 800 PCI cards are said to be the first PCI cards compliant with IEEE 1394b specifications to provide data rates up to 800 Mb/s. With data transfer speeds of double the current FireWire 400 standard, users can, for example, download a one-hour DV-format video in half the time. The cards allow both Macintosh computers and PCs to become FireWire 800-compatible. One card provides three FireWire 800 ports and the second offers two FireWire 800 ports and one FireWire 400 port. The cards are priced at $99.95 each. For more details, call John Crans at IOGEAR, INC., Irvine, CA. (949) 453-8782.
