PCIe Serial Cards Deliver 3-Mb/s Data Rates

The PCIe-ICM series PCI Express serial communication cards feature four or two ports of software-selectable RS-232, RS-422, and RS-485 serial protocols with 2 kV of isolation between channels and between the PC and bus lines on all signals. The cards feature a x1 lane PCI Express connector that fits any available x1, x2, x4, x8, x12, or x16 PCI Express expansion slot. Each RS-232 port supports data rates up to 921.6 kb/s and RS-422 and RS-485 modes support data rates up to 3 Mb/s. Existing serial peripherals can connect directly to DB-9M connectors on each card. Additionally, the cards install as standard COM ports in all operating systems including DOS, Linux, Windows 2000/XP/2003/Vista/7, and Mac OS X. Prices range from $269 to $479, depending on model.
