Optimized for both corporate and consumer desktop PC environments, the nForce2 platform processors integrate the system, memory, graphics, networking, and audio features on chip. The processors employ the HyperTransport data bus for internal platform communications and unique memory optimizations and other system level features traditionally found only at the CPU level. The family consists of the nForce2 system platform processor (SPP) and integrated graphics processor (IGP), each of which are paired with the nForce2 media and communications processor (MCP). Features of the SPP include a dual DDR400 memory subsystem, a GeForce 4 MX graphics core, and an AGP 8X interface. The IGP incorporates the company’s Accuview Antialiasing engine, MPEG2 and DVD decoding, a TV encoder, and a HDTV processor, as well as an AGP 8X interface. The MCP features the DualNet dual networking architecture to support simultaneous local-area network (LAN) and wide-area network (WAN) connections. It also provides support for up to six USB 2.0 and three FireWire ports, an integrated audio-processing unit (APU), and a real-time Dolby Digital encoder.
