The TRACe family of operational computers, designed for the transportation market, provides proven, rugged building blocks to promote design flexibility. The family, developed by Kontron, kicks off with the TRACe B304-TR, an EN50155-certified fanless transportation computer based on a COM Express computer-on-module (COM) integrating the Intel Atom E3845 processor with up to quad-core 1.91-GHz performance. Its power supply ranges from 24 to 110 V dc, and operating temperature ranges from ‒40 to +70°C. The front plate with EN50155-certified I/O includes Ethernet, USB, serial ports, audio, and digital inputs and outputs. The rear plate hosts maintenance connectors that also support a customization or “partner” plate to allow for application-specific connectors. The second family member, the TRACe V304-TR, is an EN50155-certified fanless network video recorder (NVR) that can record and transmit H.264 video streams. It includes a fixed 2.5-in., 256-Gbyte solid-state disk (SSD), and one SATA disk holder with tray. It also integrates a COM Express COM featuring the Atom E3845. Front- and rear-plate connections much like that of the B304-TR. Other features include dual-band 802.11n 2T2R and 802.11 a/b/g Wi-Fi access-point and client-mode functionality, 300-Mbit/s bandwidth, and two SMA connectors for antennas. All TRACe platforms integrate advanced health-management tools—an intelligent power-on built-in test (PBIT) solution to assess the system’s health status and configuration.
