Serial NOR Flash Doubles Embedded-App Programming Speed

Dec. 13, 2013
Embedded applications with high-speed requirements can take advantage of the 2-Mbyte/s programming delivered by Micron’s MT25Q Serial Peripheral Interface (SPI) NOR flash memories.

Embedded applications with high-speed requirements can take advantage of the 2-Mbyte/s programming delivered by Micron’s MT25Q Serial Peripheral Interface (SPI) NOR flash memories. Available in 512-Mbit, 1-Gbit, and 2-Gbit densities, the devices feature enhanced erase performance and 66-Mbyte/s read performance to accelerate updates and boot capability. According to the company the NOR 2-Gbit device is the first to come in a 6- by 8-mm BGA package. Micron’s long lifecyle support helps maximize design flexibility and minimize redesigns. The memories, which are drop-in compatible with legacy NOR devices, enable high-density SPI NOR adoption in consumer, automotive, industrial, and networking applications. In addition to the BGA, samples are available in SO16W packages.
