Centering on the Am2045 massively parallel processor array (MPPA) device with 336 RISC processors, also known as the market's first tera-OPS-class processor, the Am2045 GT video reference platform promises to take a chunk out of development time and costs. Available for Windows XP and Mac OS X Leopard operating systems, the platform addresses high-definition, video-processing products and software as well as professional video editing software suites for accelerating compressed video export. It is totally programmable and scalable for a wide range of video processing functions and accelerates video processing by up to eight times. To reduce complexity and increase reliability, a complete design requires just one Am2045 processor on a small PCI Express card. The Am2045 GT consumes 15W of power while reportedly delivering video processing throughput equivalent to four quad-core CPUs. For more details, call AMBRIC INC., Beaverton, OR. (503) 601-6500.
