Synaptics Securepad combines a touchpad pointing interface with a compact fingerprint sensor. It uses Validity's LiveFlex technology, which uses high-frequency pulsed RF to look beyond the skin surface for a more accurate reading. It's located between the touchpad and its buttons, where it's less likely to be touched accidentally. It also offers the same form factor as the normal Synaptics touchpad. And, it adds a USB interface for the fingerprint sensor. It will cost about $8 more, including drivers and support for most systems and secure BIOS implementations.
