Under certain conditions, the miniature PowerCache PC223 8-farad ultra-capacitor has the capability to increase battery operating life up to four times, or reduce battery size up to 75% in wireless consumer electronics devices, it's claimed. Roughly the size of a postage stamp and 4.2 mm thick, the device caches 21 Joules of energy at a nominal 2.3V for high-powered discharges ranging from fractions of a second to one minute. Packaged in a durable, lightweight can, it features accessible, primatic terminals and an electrostatic storage capability that can cycle hundreds of thousands of charges and discharges without performance degradation. Like all PowerCache products, the PC223 is capable of accepting charges at the identical rate of discharges for systems which can benefit from regenerative energy.
