Technology cooperation SmartPM tasked to save energy

Neubiberg, Germany: Stringent emission controls, dwindling energy resources, and a rising demand for energy has made efficient consumption of available electrical energy a top priority in design.

To that end, Infineon Technologies along with 17 European partners has formed the technology cooperation SmartPM (Smart Power Management in Home and Health). Its charge is to bring down power waste to a minimum in home appliances, power supplies, and healthcare and medical equipment.

The companies are collaborating to increase energy efficiency savings in appliances by up to 25%, while potentially reducing overall CO2 emission by 540 grams with every kilowatt-hour of electrical energy saved.
