Available in 5- to 20-mm diameter sizes and rated from 18V to 1,800V, the new ROV series of metal oxide varistors (MOVs) offer overvoltage fault protection to a wide variety of products, including power supplies, security systems, and surge strips. The MOVs protect equipment from power surges by clamping high-energy, short-duration pulses. The ROV series boosts of high current handling and energy absorption capabilities, a fast response time, and low cost, making the circuit protection devices suitable for use in in-line applications. Prices range from $0.03 to $0.30 each/100K, with exact price dependent on diameter and voltage selected. Samples are available. TYCO ELECTRONICS, Raychem Circuit Protection Unit, Menlo Park, CA.
