PWM Controllers Improve Light-load Efficiency
Helping users meet Energy Star EPS 2.0 Level 5 specs, the company’s portfolio of PWM controllers enable the 87% average active-mode efficiency to obtain compliance. The controllers, i.e., the FAN6754, offer high-voltage startup to improve energy savings at light load by 25%. The device also eliminates external protection circuits via over-voltage, over-current, and over-temperature protection plus brownout and line-compensation functions. Other advantages include frequency hopping to reduce EMI by as much as 5 to 10 dB and an 8-ms soft start to reduce voltage stress on the MOSFET. Price is $0.42 each/1,000. FAIRCHILD SEMICONDUCTOR, San Jose, CA. (800) 341-0392.
