Trio Collaborates On Triple-Junction Thin-Film PV Panels

Geneva, Switzerland: Sharp, STMicroelectronics, and Italian renewable sources company Enel Green Power have signed an agreement for the manufacture of triple-junction thin-film photovoltaic (PV) panels in Italy.

These panels particularly suit medium-scale and large-scale PV power generation. Compared to ordinary silicon solar panels, the modules can maintain a very high level of energy conversion efficiency even in very hot climates. Thanks to their lower silicon content, they also are less exposed to raw silicon price volatility.
