Micron Technology’s new 5200 series of SATA SSDs are designed for maintaining performance, consistency, capacity, reliability and overall infrastructure value. Built on Micron’s new 64-layer 3D NAND technology, the new series offers a SATA platform for business-critical virtualized workloads that cripple on a hard drive, such as OLTP, BI/DSS, VDI, block/object and media streaming.
The 5200 series, while leveraging the proven architecture, performance and capacity of the previous 5100 series, are the first SATA enterprise SSD available with 64-layer 3D NAND technology, offering improved densities, throughput, consistency and power efficiency. The SSDs are engineered to improve reliability by lowering annualized drive failure rate and are optimized for latency-sensitive, read-intensive workloads.
The series is offered in two versions: 5200 ECO SATA, offering capacities up to 7.68 TB in a 2.5" form factor; and 5200 PRO SATA, an all-purpose drive for powering read-intensive workloads requiring higher random write performance and endurance. Micron 5200 SATA SSDs are available now for OEM qualification and purchase through distributors ASI, Avnet, CDW, Ingram, Microland, WPG-Americas, Synnex and others.
