Based on the first-generation QT2020, the QT2021 monolithic transceiver is designed for 10.3 Gb/s IEEE 802.3ae Ethernet and 10.57 Gb/s Fibre Channel applications. The device is compliant with XENPAK, as well as newer XPAK, X2, and XFP multi-source agreements for next-generation 10 Gb/s module form factors. Its open compatibility is reported to ensure ease of integration into modules or directly onto line cards. Features include integrated PHY functions of the receiver and transmitter, adjustable XAUI and 10 Gb/s fiber side output levels, and a clock and data recovery (CDR) unit that requires no external reference clocks. In addition, the QT2021 can function as a diagnostic optical monitoring (DOM) device, measuring and reporting the state of the optical components or it can interface to another DOM device. Available in either 19 mm x 19 mm or 15 mm x 15 mm package sizes, samples are priced at $500 each/1,000. Full production is planned for the third quarter. QUAKE TECHNOLOGIES INC., Ontario, Canada.
