The AirMax VS coplanar signal, power, and guidance modules are typically employed as Zone 3 interconnects in next-generation AdvancedTCA carrier-grade communications equipment. The right-angle signal modules enable high-density connections with up to 150 positions. Each supports 50 differential pairs and can be placed side by side in Zone 3 to provide a total of 200 differential pairs. The components offer options to increase pin density within a slot by as much as 20% to support higher bandwidth or to reduce backplane layer count while maintaining the same pin density as a standard ATCA backplane. They employ edge-coupling technology plus an air dielectric between adjacent conductors and deliver data rates from 2.5 Gb/s to beyond 12 Gb/s without requiring re-design of the initial platform. Power modules are also available. Measuring 12-mm wide, the modules feature a 2 x 2 contact configuration rated to 80A with a 150V rating. Two mating-length options for power receptacle contacts accommodate sequential mating of power, ground, and signal contacts. Pricing for the coplanar connectors starts at $0.10 per mated line.
