These multimode fiber-optic cable assemblies boast of excellent reliability and ruggedness for applications requiring tight bends and durability. The GGP fiber-optic cable assemblies can be customized with any combination of FC, SC, ST, SC Low EMI, or LC interconnects on any end. The bending stress of a GGP fiber is said to be approximately 20% less than that of standard glass fibers. Among the applications for the assemblies are panel-to-panel jumpers, equipment backplanes, and optical cross-connects. A permanent, protective polymer coating around a glass cladding of 125 mm diameter helps protect the glass not only from the environment, but also from nicks and scratches that commonly occur during handling and termination. The assemblies meet TIA/EIA 568B, ISO 11801 and EN50173 standards for multimode fibers and are available in 50/125 mm and 62.5/125 mm at 850 and 1,300 nm multimode duplex versions. All connectors have zirconia ceramic ferrules. 3M TELECOMMUNICATIONS, Austin, TX. (800) 225-5373.
