Frictional Mating Boosts Retention Force In 1.2-mm-Pitch Wire-To-Board Connector

Feb. 26, 2014
Featuring a mated height of 2.50 mm, FCI’s low-profile, 1.2-mm-pitch, wire-to-board connector addresses demands for miniaturized interconnect solutions.

Featuring a mated height of 2.50 mm, FCI’s low-profile, 1.2-mm-pitch, wire-to-board connector addresses demands for miniaturized interconnect solutions. An enclosed receptacle profile with lead-in features assist mating in tight spaces. The connector’s plug and receptacle implement a frictional mating technique that augments retention force and supports up to 20 mating cycles. Polarized key slots help prevent misalignments between the plug and receptacle. The device, offering a selection of three to six pin counts, maintain a 50-V voltage rating and current rating of 0.5 A per contact. It can withstand voltages up to 500 V ac up to a minute, and is usable with AWG28 or AWG30 cable (UL10368). Operating temperature ranges from ‒25 to +85°C. Applications include notebooks, solid-state lighting, portable gaming consoles, tablets, and mobile navigation devices.
