Three additions to the company's inline modular connector family include two bus couplers and a backplane expansion module. The Modbus TCP/UDP bus coupler offers the same functionality as the Inline Modular Ethernet Bus Coupler in a compact form. It provides eight digital inputs, four digital outputs, and a built-in Ethernet switch. Measuring 80-mm wide, the component provides a 45% space savings compared to the Ethernet bus coupler with equivalent I/O. Additionally, the Modbus TCP/UDP coupler relies on BootP to assign IP addresses. The Modbus RTU/ASCII bus coupler measuring 80-mm wide includes eight digital inputs and four digital outputs. It also includes an RS-485 D-SUB connection for Modbus communications. Both bus couplers feature diagnosis LEDs. The backplane expansion module cost-effectively expands the local bus onto a second rail within the control cabinet. It has a maximum capacity of 63 devices for multiple expansions on a single bus station and a power terminal provides all voltages required for the low-level signal of an inline station.
