Groomed for very high bandwidth applications, the SS-BGA772A-01 BGA socket with high-endurance spring pins (pogo) handles frequencies up to 10 GHz and supports 1-mm pitch, 31-mm body, 30 x 30-array devices. Surviving up to 500,000 actuations, the socket dissipates up to 7W operating solo and can handle up to 60W with a custom heatsink. Contact resistance is typically 30 mΩ per ball. Other features include a temperature range from -40°C to +150°C, pin inductance of 1.3 nH, mutual inductance of 0.62 nH, capacitance to ground of 0.45 pF, and a pin-to-pin capacitance in the order of 0.0425 pF. The socket's footprint requires a 2.5-mm border around the IC, reportedly the smallest available. Additionally, current rating for each ball contactor is 4A. IRONWOOD ELECTRONICS, Eagan, MN.
