Promising up to 65% space savings in factory automation, production, and medical equipment, the Mini-HMC system is promoted as the first rectangular I/O connector system in a similar form factor as traditional heavy-duty, hard-shell connectors. A crescent-shaped metal hood with single action lock provides space savings and ease of handling when compared to double bale-lock connectors. The 3-mm modular components handle up to 7A, and they can be inserted and removed from the backside of their die-cast, panel-mount shells without any tools, accommodating easy assembly and field servicing. Housings come in modular units of ten circuits with a maximum of 40 circuits per side, and terminals are gold-plated and available in sizes from 18 to 28 AWG. Additionally, plug shells come with protective metal bell-cap assemblies and PVC inserts. For a 40-circuit assembly, pricing is $45 each/5,000. MOLEX INC., Lisle, IL. (630) 969-4550.
