Terminal Block Makes Insulation Displacement Connections

The new 290 Series terminal blocks, also known as the Fit Clamp, offer an insulation displacement connection (IDC) within a terminal block. The front-entry Fit Clamp terminal blocks are actuated by introducing a wire, inserting a screwdriver, and sliding the Fit Clamp towards the wire. This interconnection scheme is designed to help increase the speed and efficiency of wiring terminal blocks.
Fit Clamp terminal blocks come in two-, three- and four-conductor versions and also feature the company's Cage Clamp. Combining Fit Clamp and Cage Clamp technology is said to be an excellent option for OEM's who are concerned with field wiring. Utilizing the Cage Clamp option for field wiring gives a field technician more flexibility in wire size, without worrying about insulation type. The Fit Clamp is suitable for use with PVC insulated conductors 16 to 22 AWG stranded and 18 to 22 AWG solid. The Cage Clamp connection is suitable for 12 to 28 AWG solid or stranded. The terminal blocks are available in gray and blue as well as a green-yellow color to designate ground.
