Current Drivers Boost Efficiency Of LED Signs

Dec. 2, 2009
LED drivers with automatic power saving

The STP16CPP05, STP16CPPS05, STP16DPP05, and STP16DPPS05 LED drivers with automatic power saving enable LED signage to deliver better, high-resolution viewing by ensuring consistent brightness. The chips supply 16 LED channels with currents from 3 mA to 40 mA with a bit-to-bit accuracy within ±1% and a ±2% current matching from chip to chip. Optional features include automatic power saving that allows the drivers to turn off independently when no drive data is available and LED-error detection (short circuit or open circuit). Prices start from $0.70 each/1,000. STMICROELECTRONICS, Lexington, MA. (888) 787-3550.
