The 7003-5193 is a specially designed current-sense relay for sensing off-hook and other currents in telecomm applications. The device is capable of switching 50V and 50 mA and has a low coil resistance of 8 ohms, which, it is claimed, yields a lower voltage drop than can be achieved through the LED junction of solid-state relays.
In addition, the current-sense relay is considered both lower in cost and more rugged than Hall Effect devices. The 7003-5193 meets or exceeds worldwide safety and telecommunications standards including ITU and Bellcore 1089 lightening surges and 7 kV electrostatic discharges. Pricing is $1.50 each/10,000 with a six to eight week lead time.
