In a 1U x 2U (1.57" x 3.07" x 12.03") module, the DS series ac/dc, distributed bulk-power front ends are available with power ratings of 450W and 550W, with 650W and 850W models scheduled for later this year. Input voltage range is 90 to 264 Vac with an output current and voltage of 45A and 12 Vdc (550W model), respectively. The series features current-sharing capabilities and OR-ing diodes and supports hot swapping and redundancy. Each supply provides over-voltage and over-current protection, plus active inrush-current limiting. Fan-cooled units have no minimum load requirements and include over-temperature protection, remote inhibit, and remote sensing on the main output. Other features include an I2C interface, remote on/off, fan-speed control, and three LEDs providing visual status of ac okay, dc power good, and fan fail. Prices start at $180 for the 450W DS450-3 in OEM quantities. ASTEC POWER, Carlsbad, CA. (760) 930-4600.
