For illuminating mobile phones, remote controls, and other devices with keypads, the DFLX electroluminescent (EL) lamps do not employ a thick, rigid polyester carrier. This renders them both thin and pliable while being able to deliver several types of decorative lighting. Fabricated from flexible, printed resins, the EL lamps measure 0.1 mm thick, allowing users to place light directly under each key without affecting the tactile feel of key actuation. Luminance levels, environmental stability, and life curves of the lamps are said to be comparable to those of traditional EL lamps. Powered by a small IC driver, the lamps also exhibit very low current consumption and generate no heat. The DFLX components are custom-made to meet specific applications and are available in an array of colors. DUREL CORP., Chandler, AZ. (480) 917-6000.
