Illuminated Metal Pushbutton Switches Add Features

Oct. 8, 2008
Schurter's MSM LA line of metal pushbutton switches with latching action offers point illumination as well as ring illumination. They operate at up to 125 V dc and 250 V ac.

The MSM LA line of vandal-proof, metal pushbutton switches with latching action now offers point illumination as well as ring illumination. The switches come in double-pole or the newly added single-pole version and also now offer an actuator with increased travel of more than 5 mm. Available lighting colors include red, green and blue. Switching voltages are up to 125 V dc and 250 V ac. The actuator also indicates status. In the Off state, the actuator protrudes from the housing, and in the On state it is depressed into the housing. In addition to physical and visual indications, the switches can be used in conjunction with audible devices, thus meeting various feedback requirements of the ADA. The stainless steel MSM LA series is available in 19- and 22-mm mounting diameters and carries an IP 67 seal-protection rating from the front. The devices withstand temperatures of ?40°C to 85°C and are UL, CSA, and ENEC approved. The switches come separate from the housing for pre-wiring before installation. Prices for the MSM LA micro-switches start at about $13.00 each in 100-piece quantities. Delivery is from stock to six weeks. SCHURTER INC., Santa Rosa, CA. (800) 848-2600.
