Poised for low-current automotive applications, such as security, keyless entry, lighting, and other keep-alive electronics, the 150 mA LM9076 low dropout regulator has a typical quiescent current of 25 µA at 5V while feeding a 0.1 mA load. The device relies on a simple design, said to be rugged enough to withstand harsh environments with voltage transients up to +70V/-50V. Protection features include thermal shutdown, input-transient protection, and a wide operating temperature. Available in 8-pin SOIC NARROW and 5-pin TO 263 packages, prices are $0.89 and $0.95 each/1,000, respectively. NATIONAL SEMICONDUCTOR CORP., Santa Clara, CA. (800) 272-9959.
