Maxim’s WLED Charge Pumps Integrate Camera Support

Oct. 8, 2008
Claiming space reductions up to 40%, the MAX8645X and MAX8645Y, white-LED (WLED) drivers integrate two low-dropout regulators (LDOs) for a camera power supply, backlight drivers, camera-flash drivers, and camera power supplies into single 4 mm x 4 mm

Claiming space reductions up to 40%, the MAX8645X and MAX8645Y, white-LED (WLED) drivers integrate two low-dropout regulators (LDOs) for a camera power supply, backlight drivers, camera-flash drivers, and camera power supplies into single 4 mm x 4 mm x 0.8 mm TDFN packages. Shared features of both devices include two programmable 200-mA LDOs with a noise figure of 40 µVRMS typical, a proprietary adaptive 1x/1.5x/2x charge pump, 85% efficiency, 1-MHz fixed-frequency switching, and the ability to drive six WLEDs up to 30 mA/LED with a 5-bit dimming resolution and 0.2% current matching. They can also drive two flash LEDs up to 200 mA/LED with a 5-bit resolution. Dimming control is via a 2-bit logic interface or by connecting the logic pins together for use as a serial-pulse interface. Prices start at $2.81 each/1,000-up.
