The FRC-Q, the company’s fifth-generation frame-rate converter, offers improved picture performance and integrates scalability to support the latest 240-Hz LCD panels. The motion-estimation and compensation converter delivers the Real Motion experience on full HD 1080p LCD, PDP, and OLED TVs. In a single-chip configuration, it generates 120-Hz video and in a two-chip parallel configuration generates 240-Hz video from 50/60Hz video content or 24-fps movie sources. The device also reduces memory requirements to a single DDR2 DRAM and features substantially lower power consumption than previous generations, eliminating the need for a heat-sink. Additionally, the fifth-gen converter offers a simpler high-level command interface to quickly interface to a variety of CPU software architectures. The FRC-Q is sampling now with production ramping up in the fourth quarter. MICRONAS SEMICONDUCTORS INC., San Diego, CA. (619) 683-5500.
