Focussing on mobile applications, the AS3603 power-management unit (PMU) debuts as an enhanced version of the company's AS3601. The AS3603 integrates a dc/dc down converter and low-power LDOs, both programmable in 0.05V steps. Other integrated features include a white LED driver, programmable 1W audio amplifier, and a programmable battery charger that supports lithium- and nickel-based batteries. When employed in cordless telephone designs, the device allows the handset to be operated from an ac adapter.
