With a goal of increasing its sales through distributors from 25% to 40% worldwide, the Components Group of Hewlett-Packard Co., Palo Alto, CA, has appointed Premier Farnell, Leeds, U.K., as a catalog distributor for its wide range of electronic components. With this global agreement, Premier Farnell will provide a direct route for customers requiring lower volumes for prototype, development and repair requirements. The range of Hewlett-Packard products includes an advanced range of LEDs, optocouplers, fiber-optic products, and encoders. Both of Premier Farnell's catalog distribution companies, U.S.-based Newark Electronics and U.K.-based Farnell, will handle the complete line.A collaboration between Newark Electronics and Hewlett-Packard recently introduced online shipping for HP's electronic components for its U.S. and Canadian customers. The service enables customers to view HP product data sheets, as well as application information at the web site (www.hp.com/HP-COMP/sample/sample.html) and from there be linked directly to Newark's web site, where order processing and 24-hour shipping logistics are managed.
