A new low-profile rectifier delivering 500W has been designed to bring bulk power to distributed power architectures and dc-dc systems used in optical routing equipment, enterprise networks, and wireless applications. The CAR0548, z designed as a 1U version, packs approximately 9W/cubic inch at a typical efficiency of 85%. Measuring 1.59" x 3.38" x 10.19", the CAR0548 comes in two versions: 10.4A at +48V as a front-end power supply, or 9.25A at –54V when used for telecom and battery-charging applications. The universal- input CAR0548 comes with integrated redundant diodes and a thermally controlled fan. Operating at a temperature range of –40°C to +70°C, the unit is useful in uncontrolled environments such as wireless applications. Other features include hot swap capability, fault redundancy, active load sharing, output voltage programming, current readout, remote on/off and front plate LEDs. The CAR0548 rectifier also features input-over and -under voltage, output-over voltage, over-temperature and over-current protection. Pricing is $275 each. CHEROKEE INTERNATIONAL, Tustin, CA.
