Sensor Revs Up Digital Video Cameras

Sept. 1, 1998

The CH5001, a highly integrated CMOS color digital video camera sensor, is said to offer significant advantages over competing CCD and CMOS technologies. Designed with a proprietary pixel sensor array architecture, the sensor offers some features that enhance flexibility. One is called multi-dimensional automatic shutter control, which is critical for a high-quality picture and contrast in any lighting conditions.Usability is further enhanced by 16 programmable backlight compensation zones that allow adaptation of the camera response to the room environment. The sensor features a 352 x 288 active pixel array with color filters, 1/3" lens format and I2C bus control.
